New Puffers in the house...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I so want another big hairy lol

I also have to admit i started getting very tempted after seeing so many members here have one... so when my chance came up, i had to jump on it...

Wth explosive puffer fish? Lol

I have to get a bailey next yr if they're around. Nice pickups

Can you keep those red eyes as a group? I've heard they're hyper aggressive but I don't have any personal experience with them

C.Irrubeso is the “friendliest” of the red eye species, so in a large enough tank with lots of decor they can be kept in groups, though you still need to watch for potential fights that get out of hand from the odd super aggressive puffer...

Naturally, you’d also want to try and have more females than males so you can spread out aggression as well...

Neat pickups, how bold is the baileyi, mine is just a shy creature, although can't blame it, still quite new.

Do we need to give these piscivores puffers hard foods as well, for their teeth to be naturally trimmed ?

I give my suvatti soft shells of crab just to be safe, but he doesn't like it as much as he likes fish meat and frozen macrobrachium shrimps

Being piscivores they are supposedly okay without a hardshelled diet, but tbh, if they are willing yo on occassion take a crunchy diet i cant see it doing any harm...

As for activeness, mine is semi shy, when hes hungry normally around early afternoon he’ll come out for a swim and try to grab my attention, but if he fails, he tends to retreat back to his hole and sometimes doesnt come out till the next day almost as if sulking coz he didnt get any food lol...
