I've had a few rays in the past but they were all 6+
I just got 2 pups from a friend they are about 2 weeks old and on blackworms.
I've noticed they aren't near as aggressive feeders at this stage, sometimes I even wonder if they are eating (do I need to be worried about this?) I've been feeding half bloodworm and half black worms to try to transfer them onto other things. I have them in my discus tank. Im not too worried about them, but id like to know what to expect or if there is anything I need to do special with them. Thanks

My ray/s are not that much aggressive eaters as well. She shares her pellets, black worms and blood worms with the Bichirs and plecos. I don't think you have anything to worry bout.

Thanks man, I didn't know you were in the rays section too. These guys aren't getting skinnier but I haven't seen them with the nice fat arch in their back like other rays get after a big feeding. I've been feeding in the dark so the discus don't pick at the food so I haven't actually even seen them eat?

Dane what's up how have you been. Those are from Brandon's breeders right they look good. I feed my rays red worms when thy are small and there is a guy on ksl now that has a bunch of hem. I started a little worm farm and I never have to buy worms again it's very easy.

Red worms, is that the same as bloodworm?
Well the black worms I was feeding have seemed to make my wifes discus sick, so now I think im in trouble :/ I need to get these guys on something else but im having troubles knowing if they are even eating or not?
They are getting.more active and swimming up the sides of the tank so im thinking they are feeling more comfortable

Discus love blackworms, used to feed them to mine back when I kept discus. Its unlikely that they are making them sick, though they may refuse to eat anything but blackworms if they get addicted.

For pups try what walmart sells as "baby nightcrawlers", they are just small versions of the regular nightcrawlers they sell. The pups will be able to eat those allot sooner than the fullsized ones, at there size you might still have to chop those in half or thirds for them.

As to your question about redworms, they are different than blood worms, more like nightcrawlers. For example: http://www.redwormcomposting.com/buy-composting-worms/#red-worms Personally I prefer the convenience of being able to just toss nightcrawlers in the fridge rather than maintaining a worm bin, but you can save yourself some money by doing a worm bin.

Thanks for the info! And that's good to know its probably not from the blackworms (do you think they could have just eaten too much?)
I want to get them on night crawlers and off black worms asap so those baby crawlers should help alot, thanks
Im not into keeping a worm farm at the moment I only have 2 rays and from what I understand worm farms don't smell the best lol
