New purchase...Sb male...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Izzy, Thanks,so you think I should mate him with a killn or a kkp?. Why not another SB, or another flowerhorn? Just want your input. I have 1 SB female paired up with my male 10" Kamfa. They are going through the courting phase now. They seem to really like eachother. Let me know what you think?

I like the idea of a killin or an sb flowerhorn, I think you'll see more immediate results with an sb FH female. But then again I have seen and personally own a killin that definitely brings something to the table genetic's wise.

It's sort of up to your pocketbook and whats available. If you can spend the dough get an sb female. For that matter find a female thats only a little bit short body.

And yes fo shizz you should breed that fish. He's thick, chunky, his Kok is huge and he has great color, pearls flower's. Great overall character and presence too.

Do it.:headbang2

I would like to see a strain created with red and white midas crossed back and forth with bp or kkp...something just a hair longer in body than mine. A slightly Kamfa type fish with red eye's, not a parrot, no parrot mouth or head. You rarely see red and white parrot's unfortunately, and if you did there likely to be more faded (washed out red) than I'd like. Same with red and white midas, hard to find a nice one sometimes.

I can't figure it...she hides all by herself for long periods of time, meanwhile he hides in their cave. Then they will be inseperable for an hour or so. Then back to hide and seek again. I see small sign's that he is losing patience with her...no real agression yet but I'm keeping an eye out.

The hiding became fulltime so I decided to change the tank around a bit and put the other fish back. Thing's went fine, little to no aggression...only now she is back in full breeding dress, tube showing but not yet fully dropped, and spending 100% of her time with him...he spends all his time cleaning the cave or shimmying against her. They do chase the other fish a little but really not that much. They even feed with the other's just outside the cave mouth with no aggression! Not sure what give's but they seem to be getting closer to a spawn so I'm not questioning it.

I think one bet I may be missing is placing a flower pot in the tank, I have pieces of them and layed some slate over the top but it's not quite the same. I's sufficently large enough just not the right shape...and theres no terra cotta "floor" for her to lay eggs on. The male has cleaned down to the glass but she doesn't seem to be interested in that. Long story short, I think they need more possible spawning surface's.

Anyone have thoughts as to the possible fry from this pairing? I'm guessing they will range from a very parroty looking killin type fish all the way up to fairly nice sb Kamfa. I doubt I'll get anything as nice as the dad but one can hope.

This is definitely my lucky night for fish breeding activity. Two of my Green Terrors show every sign and....the sb Fh and the killin are spawning as I post this! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!:headbang2
