New ray tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks, Yes that is K-1 in the sump 100L of it and 3 buckets of matrix It is prefiltered by 1" thick blue porets foam The sump was made out of a 135 gl tank.

I had to run to cabellas this morning and get a rubberized net to move him, He wanted NO part of the rubbermaid tote I used to move him with last time. Don't ride me too hard about the size of the tank vs the ray size. This is just temp. until I get the next one made. The next time he gets moved I may wear a raincoat because I took a bath this time !

Weren't you starting a large plywood tank build afer he rally? How is that going?

Yes I am. I already have the acrylic sheet 7' X 2.5' X 1" and a new hammerhead pump. This male decided to start beating the female and had to me separated asap.
I think the plywood tank should be done in 2-3 months time allowing, I am working some crazy ot at work now and about all I have time for is w/c's and sleep.

Forgot to mention, the leo was 1 year 4 months old yesterday. We had another guy at work quit yesterday so even more OT ! I may be able to swing an all acrylic tank instead of a plywood tank. If I do the plywood tank it will be 8 x 4 x 3 using max acr and rubber. I would rather go all acrylic I will know more in a couple of weeks when the new work schedule is out.

Does anyone know where to buy cell cast acrylic sheet wider than 4' ?

How large is the male that you moved? He looks so big already at just over a year! Incredible how quickly these guys grow!

Some cast acrylic sheets come in sizes slightly larger than 48" x 96". Maybe two inches over in each dimension. Sort of like how MDF, particle-board, etc. come in 49" x 97". Just make sure you're not getting some low quality, imported from China acrylic. I've heard some of their "cast" acrylics are even worse than our extruded acrylics.

I'm assuming you're talking even larger than that so if that's the case I would suggest your bump your thread in the DIY section. Or even better start a new thread so the title attracts the attention of those who might know more about it.
