new ray

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just got my ray on friday and he ate some pellets after i let them sit w/ the cut up worms for a bit..i give him worms and pellets but he'd obviously rather have the worms..

good luck with your ray...watch you're ammonia levels as they produce a lot of ammonia. don't be fooled of their size...keep tight watch of your parameters...glad to hear the ray ate so soon...

you didnt listen to anyones suggestions in your previous thread did you? you asked for any last minute advice then just went ahead and did it... i hope it works out for you...

im not getting a motoro due to their size. ive watched this one eat for a few months. its eatin fine. looking decent. just ate some massivore pellets last night on top ofblackworms. im not dumb. i know what im doing. but thanks for the negativity

I was referring to the fact that you just added NEW sand to your tank two days ago. Maybe that did come out a little negative, but patience is key to success.

hey no problem. the bad thing about seeing what ppl are saying is that you cant see their expression. my ammonia did jump to .25ppm and my nitrates to about 20, but a water change fix the ammonia and nitrates are about 5-10 now. the ray is eating blackworms, havent tried bloodworms and i broke up a massivore pellet and saw him gobble that up. so things are lookin up for him

 The reason why you are getting negative vibes off people is because of your disregard for experianced ray keepers advice after you have posted a thread asking for it...
You were asked your tank perameters before getting the ray... no answer
You were asked your tank size before getting the ray.............no answer
You were asked if this was a newly set up tank.....................no answer
You were asked if you tank has fully cycle and by what meathod.................again no answer

Going by your readings of your ammonia compared whith your comparatively low nitate level i would say your tank is newly set up, not fully cycled, and you have little to no experiance of fish keeping let alone ray keeping.......

This is what i mean by disregard for experianced good advise that YOU asked for but chose to ignore...... There are many people like yourself that come on forums like this pretending to seek advise but when given it, choose to ignore it on purpose because all they are really after is a pat on the back for getting a nice fish, jmho.

lets see here, to start, i told ppl i was not getting a motoro due to their adult size and the fact that i could not house one for life. also i knew the risks of the retics. secondly, im not a novice fishkeeper, the last post about the advice was posted by my wife and i guess she didnt understand what i was telling her. it was either going in my 120 or 125 for now. the tank i chose is the 120 and its set up and the ph is 7.4, ammonia 0, nitrites 0 and nitrates <20. for now he is in w 3 florida gars and a peacock eel. i stated several times ive watched him for about the past 2 months and saw him eat black worms. for the short few days ive had him, hes eaten blackworms, bloodworms, brine shrimp, i think maybe massivore pellets (not sure didnt exactly see him eat it, but they were gone later) and today im going to try some earthworms. so..... does that answer your questions all high and mighty one?

and i cycled it with fish about 3 months ago, has 2 rena xp4s 400w heater that is covered, sand bottom, the tank is a marineland, it sits in my living room..... i have brown hair, blue eyes, is there anything else that you experts need to know?

To start you only told people you weren`t getting a motoro (for your size reasons ) after you got the retic.
Secondly, why the hell is your wife posting under your name :screwy:
Thirdly, i find it odd that after provocation from my post, WOW we have perameters
Forthly, i never said i was high and mighty, just mearly pointing out that when asking for advise it is usually considered good manners to provide details of your situation/tank/perameters to the people that are trying to respond to your requests for help.

People on this forum aren`t mind-readers, YOU asked for help, YOU recieved advise/requests for more info, YOU didn`t help yourself by not replying, YOU bought a $49 retic for $150 because you were unable to distinguish between that and motoro........

Says it all, don`t ya think :(
