I just got 3 rays last night from TFD. I put them in the tank with 2 hr drip siphon acclimatization and the just went to the bottom and sat there. When I checked on them this morning the guyana ray (I got a histrix and a reticula also) was the only one at all active. The others are sitting in a corner. I put ghost shrimp in none of the new rays touched them. The just let them be and there were shrimp walking all over the rays and stuff. What can I do to get them to eat or is this just a waiting game where they will do it after they are used to the tank?

Thanks,

Eric

takes awhile for the rays to get comfortable....

be sure to keep them in low light and try black worms!

good luck, keep us updated....

try blackworms or crawlers

When I first got my new ray it hid in the sand for about a week and would move only to eat. I fed it black worms and it loved them. Just give it some time and try and fatten them up on black worms, I doubt they will refuse them.

Did the rays come in with a Pink Belly?

What substrate are you using? Make sure it's not irritating the rays.

Were the rays showing hips when they first came in?

A number of things could be wrong, not just rays taking their time to settle in.. You might want to double-check some things before you decide they 'just need time to settle in', because by that time, it might be too late..

It may just take a few days for them to settle in, but a healthy ray should eat fairly quickly. A well acclimated and QT'ed ray will usually eat in the box, before release.. but keep in mind, You get what you paid for! :WHOA:

Blackworms are a great enticer, same with chopped earthworms.. Ask TFD what he was feeding, if he has time.. :naughty:

Are you keeping a close eye on the water parameters ?
Adding 3 new rays all at once can put a strain on the bio filter. Its surprising how much load rays put on your filtration system.

Agreed...balck worms or earth worms...no ray can refuse them!

If they refuse blackworms you got a problem!
