I bought this guy from petland discounts in NYC labeled as a Red Texas. He was alot darker in the store so I couldnt tell what he was mixed with, however he looked like he had alot of potential. Now that hes in my tank, and has settled in, I see he is a Trimac x Texas hybrid. He has the same color as a Trimac but has the spangling of a Texas. What do you guys think? Also is there any chance he will turn color or will the Trimac trait keep him yellow? I love him anyhow and I love the cross. Enjoy! Any comments are welcome. Also this is my first post in the Hybrid section. :headbang2

i think he is what hey say, you never know whats in a red texas these days. i see the three spots but i think its unlikely someone would use a trimac in their red texas project. maybe a flowerhorn?

flowerhorn maybe trimac no

I see what you guys mean. My guy is mixed with a flowerhorn that looks like a Trimac that everyone asks "Is this a Trimac or Flowerhorn?". Gotcha. Well I love him either way. Any chance of the Red part of "Red Texas" coming out?

he could be, i still say he is most likely what they say he is. I can really see the red devil/midevil profile in him, no juvenile barring but i still can see it, and we all agree he has some texas.

It takes time for them to fade, some quicker than others by 5/6" you should have the general idea if he ever will. once he fades he will be an even more beautiful fish. i kind of partial to the unfaded red texas when they have the awesome finnage and lots of pearls.

sighhhhh.... i want a carpinte, no room as i live in a 3 room apartment with a hallway stacked with tanks

true red texas are red at 2 inches
