New Rescue Aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
really? thats cool

kind of neat looking I think, you have to update when he gets some size

I admire what you are doing, but what if this aros deformity cause pain? In the wild this aro would not survive at all. You however may be able to extend it's life for many years. Unfortunately if the aro is in pain, this is a very bad thing.

I know this will be very unpopular, but IMO the arowana should be put down.

Thanks everyone for the responses on my new rescue aro. Bendy seems to be doing quite well. He doesn't appear to be in any pain, but how do you tell?

He is eating very well. A combo of Blood worms, flake, fry pellets, cichlid pellets and some seafood wafers's that my cray fish enjoys. He lunges for it all (but he LOVES the flakes). We tried him in our 75 but the filter was too strong for him right now and he got stuck to it. So we moved him to the 55 to get a little stronger. I will admit I was scared watching him eat since his tankmates are mollies, platies, and some other community fish. But he has no interest in them yet. YET. He seems to have gained a little bit. He swims around the top of the tank now, where at the store he swam near the bottom.

Maybe I am :screwy: but I think he has a personality. When its feeding time he swims circles and then gets really close the front of the tank to see you. :nilly:

I disagree a little about the comment made that he wouldn't have survived out in the wild. This abnormality doesn't seem to be affecting him other that his looks, (at the moment) but in time I hope to see him fill out a little more, and just enjoy what time he has with me.

wow thats great news

that is so good of you to try and help him... i hope it all turns out well for you both...

that's really awesome that you take care of him :)
and it it does shorten his life, at least he wouldnt have died at the petstore :D

ive only got one arm ( actually 1.5 arms right one goes only past the elbow.)
never slowed me down. some call it a stump but its not itsa nub!!!! hints the name!!!!
anyways us ( as you call) '' gimpies '' are just as good as any one. wre not handicapped!!!! were handicapable!!!!

i have a 14" florida gar with a healed up broken back, he is kind of rainbowed, but since i got him he has always eaten and swam just fine, its no where near as severe as your aro, but he is a "gimpie" anyway.
