how can you be looking at stcroix and fenwick and have an ugly stick rod even in your sights????
those are 2 different worlds of rods!

I'm hoping when I handle the two I will see where ther extra money is going.

I would look at a medium heavy 7' st. croix mojo or a 7' MH all star for what you are planning to use. good luck

Went with the mojo and since the wife wasn't there to get fudge which leads me to buying elk sticks I was able to restock the tackle box.

My favorite rods will always be G loomis and lamiglass. I believe both offer lifetime warrently. I have a short flipping Lamiglass rod with a baitcaster reel that a friend won at a tourny in vegas. It is sturdy and powerful yet you can feel a lot of the action from the lure and and strikes or bumps. The gloomis is my baby. Its not only very responsive but incredibly durable. This is my spinecast setup and I love it! I believe both brands should have something for you in your price range.

Id suggest a shakespeare ugly stick. Landed 250+ bass(lm and sm), muskie and waleye last summer and no worries about a break. Theyre cheap and reliable but the muskies did scare me a bit, thankfully they were relativly small

he already got the mojo guys

and brockfish... you have a G loomis casting reel with a spincaster on it? that should be a sin!

I'm a huge fan of the Ugly Stick and it usually sells for 29.00 everywhere. Awesome rods but I found the basic model a bit heavy, they make a lightweight version of it though, so no worries. Buy it and use your savings on lures.

Shimano has changed the grip material and real seat, but the Clarus rod is sensitive and sturdy. Also what sold me on them was the over the counter warranty if they break. Just take the rod in and they give you a new one for 10 bucks if i remember right or free. mine i've had for 4 years without any malfunction or breakage. I have 3 Clarus poles in different actions and I fish for Large mouth. I've caught many fish on them and with warranty and price (about 70 bucks) I think is a great deal. Good luck bassn'
