I had no idea that an RTC would cross with a Paroon!

So let me get this straight: not only will an RTC EAT anything it comes across, but it's just as likely to F*!# it as well?

Awesome little guy though! Can't wait to see him grow up.

Lol. I must have skipped fish sex-ed in high school. Still though, lots of RTC crosses. Why don't they cross it with something likely to stay under 24"?

They do not cross them to delight (or disgust) us but to produce food. Ornamental fish trade is just a "by-market" that happened to be...

The fish farm researchers have tried thousands of combinations world wide (intra-family and inter-family) and very few (a few dozen?) of the crossing attempts produced "anything" and out that "anything" perhaps only half a dozen of hybrids are viable.

Before this, inter-family hybridization was thought to be impossible altogether, for any animals IIRC.
