i'm treating him now for fin rot.
i also have this other package of expired medicine that i'm deciding on using. i've asked some people and they said the only thing is that it's not as effective..but still slightly works. is this true?
feeding him frozen krill and bloodworms. he actually eats out of my hand

I would just go with the salt not the meds It should work fine. As long as it is eating you should have no worrys.

Looks like he has fin and tail rot .GET those feeders outa there!!! Use market shrimp silversides , krill , beef heart, SOO much cheaper and no risk of infecting the fish with a parasite.My little rtc was at my lfs on chost shrimp and I brought him home waited 2 days and he ate a chunk of shrimp with no prob.Now when I do my routine with feeding he is like a little excited puppy begging for food.

What makes you think they're feeders? Not every goldfish is bred to be eaten. Although thankfully the ugly ones are eaten.

Ah. He's eating a lot. He ate a whole cube of frozen bloodworms that was even bigger than himself. Although the emperor ID I have in there as well doesn't seem to be eating much...

Thanks mystix. I didn't mention it earlier but that feeder was one of those super intelligent ones that survived a week with my arowana and two clown knives and sneaking bites out of their food. I've kept him in his own little tank since.

glade to hear you're treating him. If he's eating well that's a really good sign. Hope that he grows large and in charge. Keep us updated on his growth and pics.

Why else would goldfish be in with a rtc ?? Companionship?? I think not...

I just Bought what was "labeled" a Sun Catfish but it's an RTC with a White tail... Is that common?

what size is it? Their tails are kinda blackish with white tips, and white spots when really small. I'll try to find pics of mine when it was really small.
