I need as much info i can get to get the best out of my RTG i just bought this weekend (pics to follow as soon as its settled in).
it is around 11'' it will be in my 6x2x2 with my 11'' dat in this tank.
beige sand, black background, 1 std 4' tube for lighting.
i need to know how to get the best shine possible and tan, what exactly too feed to do all this and if i need any mods to the tank.
tank has loads of filtration and is getting UV 25w very soon.

gold aros tend not to need tanning from the top...

an underwater light shining upwards would help in deepening the gold color.

feed a mixture of shrimp and fish/frogs if u can get them. But go easy on the shrimp of not the gold may turn pinkish.

Tank overall looks good. Are u running an undergravel filter? If so better get a backup power supply for it in case of a power outage.

be wary of droop eye, mines(your old one) started to get it, its either form feeding from the bottom, watching people from inside the tank or watching other tankmates. i believe its bacuse its adjusting to new surroundiings it no longer needs to look up any more it can get food from all areas of the tank , in the wild food would come from the surface and it wouldn't be able to see anything below it. ive looked through those monster fish keepers books and most of the big asians have slight droop eye, only the ones in with other aro's look alright, i beleives thats because of the competion they have to watch the surface otherwise they'll get no food

meal worms are too high in fat, addictive and make a mess of the water.

spirulina is normally used to enhance red coloring and hence spoils the out look of a gold arowana.

Pellets are the best choice as they are well balanced.

FYI, alot of hobbyists here loathe feeding meal worms as the fat content is too unhealthy for aros

like you have said before you know best but thats what i have always fed as you just gut load the mealworms with what every you want including pellets

well so far it is eating pellets and losts of them which is a good thing.
i will get some worms for it as i ordered some last week and will also feed it whitebait and prawns if it will take them.
i will feed slowly so it only eats from the top as i did with my other aros.
i think i may set up another light in the hood to get some good pics but i am not sure about how to do an underwater light.
it still has some growing and developing to do but i do want to help it on its way to aro perfection

again u put words in my mouth.

this is slander so unless u have concrete proof i said that we better watch what u say.

I'm not forcing you to follow what i say. I'm now advising DiXon as he asked for advice, not you. You can feed whatever you want to your aros.

a varied diet is always good for any fish. But i would go easy on the worms.

perfection is up to the owner. If u feel your aro is perfect then it is. :grinyes:

u dont make an underwater light. Its sold in aquariums.
