very impressive tank

Thanks! :D

That's a badass tank! Nice motas. Where did you get them?

Thanks :D I picked up the two males and a female in Seattle (F1) from a gorgeous pair. The additional female is F1 I picked up here in Portland.

Excellent work, Justin! I really love your tanks. The RTM are outstanding! I'd like to see a shot of that hideaway for the female. It sounds much better than a divider. I hope that I can pull off something as nice as that with my next tank setup.

Thanks Al!!! Disclaimer: these shots of the hideout suck... buuut you asked for them so.. ;)

This is the main opening, I blocked of the other three entrances. I will continue to widen it as the female grows so only she can fit back there. For now they will be fine until he puts on some size. It's the same concept I am using with my dovii pair, using the tank decor/background to give enough plaeces for the female to retreat so I don't have to use a divider.

This is the clearest shot I could get from the top looking down into the chamber. I hollowed out the interior of the background to give maximum space once back there. The intakes to the 2217's will get back here as well.

Does that give you an idea why I wanted this pair in this tank? I think it's perfect but that's just my opinion.

GREAT looking setup Justin.

Thanks for showing the depth of the bkgrnd & setup pics. Ive wondered how the backgrounds were setup, made and worked properly.

I cant get them anywhere locally around here and not willing to drop a few hundred $$$$ just to see if it works for me.

I went with growing out la cieba freddies...I hope I chose the right fish because those RTM look amazing as does the aquascape really nice set up. Is that a designs by nature background?

Great looking setup indeed!! I was wondering what kind of background that was too? Also since you cut out the overflows and are going to use the holes in the bottom of the tank to route the canisters...what are you doing for the intake part...how far off the bottom are you going to go with it? Is it behind the background?

Both are great fish, the appeal of the RTM visually is the red, and the La Ciebas is the yellow. I believe La Ciebas tend to be more mellow with tank mates and male on female pair aggression. Just depends on what you like really, both are awesome.

For everyone who asked, it is indeed a designs by nature background.

Wow, another stunning master piece, great job!

amazing setup bro!! Please post updates of the tank and RTMs;) I would love to do something similiar with my tanks too.
