Hey everyone, I recieved this guy two days ago from aquascape and he is really beat up. I hate to say it, but Im kind of dissapointed with his health. He had what looked to be a large infected "chimple" which today fell off leaving a considerable piece of his lip missing and teeth exposed. In addition to that his fins are in horrible shape and he looks to have fin rot. He is generaly beat-up looking and is missing scales. My main question is; will he every completely heal? thanks in advance:)

I am not a master on Piranha, but I know that they are suppost to be pretty resilient. So just keep the water clean and feed healthy food and I think he will be 100% in no time.
 
Hmmm Well I think he will make it but you never know with things like this...

I would raise the temp to 82F and add aquarium salt, if you haven't already
 
under proper care i think it would heal out just fine. like Greez said, increase temperature to 82F and add aquarium salt to help avoid any infection on the lower jaw.
keep your water quality topnotch and it should heal out in few weeks.

Have you talked to Pedro about it? I know him as a nice guy with quality fish, I am sure he has good advice for you. As jp said, you need to keep the water pristine right now!

Ok thanks alot everyone. I just did a 30% wc, bumped up the temp to 82 deg F, and added aquarium salt. I feel much better thanks!

Ehh it is what it is. As long as he heals up I have nothing to get angry about. I am a little dissapointed though.

nice fish shame about the way it arrived tho. i wouldn't be angry as we all no p's heal up well with the right care!
but i would get on the phone and have a word tho.. you never no u might not get a refund but a discount of your next order and with the prices of the piranha over there a discount would make sence of your next one. thats if you do have another
