SOme sort of cover on the sump will help the heat stay in the tank/sump immensely.
Even if its saran wrap..ahahh.

Temps holding good but Haha that ain't a bad idea though! I might try it lol. I do like the large ammount if evaporation though cause I add water like twice a week I think it helps with quality.

Try a mix. I use about 80% pfs and add a bag or two of brown gravel or black sand to break things up.

I mixed reg PFS and Black Diamond
sand, I think it looks pretty good. Here's a pic of my Bahia buoy can see the sand

Let me ask y'all a question. Why does all new plastic equipment peel when in the water long. Like the white filmy stuff. I think my return pipe is doing it and it's very annoying.

I've got the pool sand and diamond mixed in a tank as well! That gives a nice contrast. Where in NY are ya?
