I jut got a new senegal... He is in a 120 wide with a Indo dat, black aro, giraffe cat and common pleco.... He seems to be doing well, other then not being quick enough to eat..... when I feed, the others quickly devour all the food!!! I dont want to over feed my entire tank just to get him to eat. any input???

my fish are all greedy...my dat will eat himself sick...he eats so much he has to spit out all the food he already ate, then eats fresh food. He jacks up the tank so bad I have to do a WC!!!! My black aro is just almost as bad!!! I am at a loss here, I am going to try to hand feed or maybe get some tongs....

I keep my senegalus with slow moving fish for this very reason, but turning off the lights is good idea since they are mainly nocturnal. mine eats in the dark all the time.

this is the reason i hate my senegal. im usually up late so i turn on the lights when my fish are sleeping. and they get mad and stay at the bottom while the bichir goes up to eat.
u can turn off the lights but my fish seem to see in the dark O_O. or you could make some design that keeps the food in the corner where the fish cant see and the bichir smells it.

my senegals were like that at first.
but now they are very quick when food is around.
theyll often swim up to the sruface to have the first bite when they see me with food.
you can use a feedstick.

i have my 2 sengs in with a pictus cat and they are real fast as soon as they see me with food they come right up to the top for there shrimp pelits

I had the same worries with my senegal....but after a bit of time he soon realised you got to be quick or be dead.... Now he is even quicker than my 4-line Pim at getting hold of the food.

One tip....using frozen dillies really did help - they sink quickly, so other fish may not spot em in time.

I am still having no luck, I tried feeding with tongs, by hand, sinking pellets...I am frustrated....But more so, he's starving, or maybe not....

Carefully with the pleco are notorious for sucking on the slimecoats of other fish.
