New Senegal Bichir

Well this is a first for me... I've been meaning to pick up one of these guys for a while now and finally got the chance to at the local lfs. Maybe when I go back I'll get another so I have a pair.

He eagerly ate a large helping of bloodworms a couple hours after being in the tank. I don't have any actual in-tank pix yet because for some reason the lighting appears all yellowish on my camera.

I have had mine for about 3 months now and he loves rosies (feeders), but mainly he is on a diet of bloodworms, brine shrimp, earthworms and beef heart which he will eat out of my hand.

Also, I have read in several spots that they are active mostly at night, but for mine that is definitely not the case. He will swim around the tank and stays visible most of the time.

So they can handfeed? Cool! Mine likes cruising around the tank and then resting amid the plants with half his body sticking out of the foliage (fail-stealth lol)

Planning on getting a trio eventually , I would have bought more but he was the last one they had.

Probably going to go next week sometime to get some more.
