Hi all! I am a returning monsterfishkeeper from Hawaii. I purchased a used acrylic tank and stand as well as an Amiracle wet/ dry filter. My plan is to have a planted arowana tank. I've been having one problem after another so any advice would be awesome. First issue, I was so excited to start cycling my tank so I washed my gravel and put it in. I didn't set up the wet/dry because it didn't come with the hoses, some of the attachments, and filter materials like the sponges, and power head (that I expected). I was trying to search pet stores on Oahu and found none. I tried Home Depot and the worker set me up with clear tubing and the attachments to hook up filter. Although I am yet to find the sponges filters and pads. Guess what? The filter may not fit the acrylic stand that came with the tank. My filter is 24" long and 14" across and the door on my stand is 15" x 23". A friend said I prolly need to take doors off so I started. I accidentally broke one of the hinges off while doing so. I love the stand cause the tank fits perfectly inside and the acrylic tank looks more modern. This might sound stupid, but could the filter fit in the stand? Any thoughts or suggestions? Could I possibly open up the back of the acrylic stand?

could the filter fit in the stand?
It's possible. Try placing the wet/dry filter under the stand now. If you think it will be hard to perform maintenance on the wet/ dry filter then setting it up on the side or back of the aquarium will be the only option.

Hi tlindsey! Thanks for responding so quickly. As I was removing the doors on the stand a piece of the hinges broke off so I had to glue it back. After that happens, I stopped taking hinges off. It will be 3 days to fully cure or fuse the acrylic together. I'm worried the stand is now compromised and also I was unsuccessful in removing both hinges. lol. I wanted to start the cycling process already. I even bought ammonium chloride for the fishless cycle to speed up. I'm scared to put water now. If the tank has water and gravel I cannot make modifications to my set-up could I?

Could I possibly open up the back of the acrylic stand?

I would not cut or modify the acrylic stand at all as any holes or openings that were not in the original design could impact the structural stability.

Any chance you can post some pics of the stand from all sides so we can see what you are dealing with?
