nice scaping - does the rootwood cost much? here in the uk its crazy money - i paid £36 for a single piece for my tank! its not that big either! looking at yours id estimate over £100 cost here.

Yes, the red moore root aka spiderwood is expensive! The piece on the left of the pic is a huge stump turned upside down- cost 85.00 Us dollars. The "clump" on the right is made up of about six pieces, cost was 10, to 20 per piece. Substrate is new for me- before this, I had pea gravel. After much searching around, I decided to try blasting sand. It is a brand called "black diamond"-I must say, after two weeks, no problems, and it looks great!! 8.00 for a 50# bag- but you have to wash the @!t out of it.

Thanks! I have always had my eye on a fire eel. I bought one ten years ago in Florida- beautiful fish about 12". Two weeks later, I woke one morning and saw something sticking out of my tiger shovel nose catfishes mouth- kind of looked like a tongue. It was not a tongue- it was the tail end of the 12" fire eel I paid 100 bucks for two weeks earlier (expensive protein pellet). This new guy is 6"-I figured I would not put him in a tank with a huge predatory catfish twice his size(live and learn :)).
