if you get rid of them you should keep a female for sure....very cute cichlid imo.. also what are the dimensions of your 65? i don't think that tank is really big enough for 2 adult JD..

The dimensions are 3 feet long, 2 feet tall, and 18 in. wide. Is it big enough for 2 adults?

i say if you really want to go for it, but make them the only 2 fish.... and if it looks like they are crammed when reaching full size then upgrade the tank or do something with the fish.... Your footprint is fine but i'm just one who hates seeing fish with no swim room.... once you add some driftwood, maybe fake plants... the open tank isn't so open... and now you got two 8-10" fish.. ya know what im saying.... i don't want to get all ethical n crap but it's just sad when you see people with nice fish in a bare tank....
