so i have 4 15 gallon tanks that are all already drilled in the back.
i would like to set them up like this diagram, however i am unsure if it will work well or not.

thoughts:
under the gravel filters in all or not ?
sand or gravel? and how much?
do i need more flow ?
whats the best way to place tanks, all level to each other? or each stepped down a little?
stack tanks instead?
do i add small inline filters between tanks ? if so ideas on how?
need to make it leak proof for if the power goes out it wont leak or drain.

( i added picture of tanks i will be using)

any thoughts ideas all are welcome

looks like it could be an awesome idea.. but i'm no where near experience enough to get too far into it. looking at the design and tanks though.. i'd think you'll probably need a pump on each tank to keep the water moving though.. or each one with an overflow which leads to the next tank..

If i put over flows on them would i then have to stack them all? I was thinking if i left them level they would just balance each other out with less risk of leaking during a power failure

Why not just plumb them all to a large sump?

Very interesting idea. I first thought doing a sump would be smart but you would lose overall volume then if they were all filled.

What size bulk head do you have installed on these? Make sure it can handle horzontal flow higher then what you need. 180 gph seems a little low. But depending on how much it is stocked to might be ok. The one tank being planted will help a lot with filtration if you have decent lighting.

i would probably but a down turned elbo on each intake to help move water around each tank. A strainer on each intake whould be good to keep fish out, unless they were low enough and you wanted them to travel back and forth.

Just one filter sized for the system on one tank should work if the flow through each tank keeps debri stirred up enough to move to the fitler tank.

thank you for the ideas. and the bulk heads are 1'' but i do not know how o calculate the flow for them?
the stocking will be ghost shrimp and any others i find to try and breed.
any thoughts on what my substrate should be?
