NEW SHARK!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well if it is 5" long then Krj-1168 is right about it being saflely over 2 weeks old. But if you can find out how old it is then thats great too. You should buy a set of aquarium tongs so you can stick feed it and that way you will be sure it gets every piece and the left overs wont turn into nitrates. (but make sure there is something for your hermits to eat). For a diet you should feed lots of different kinds of fresh seafoods like squid, scallops, clams (out of the shell), mussels (out of the shell), Ocean smelt chunks, and outher fresh seafoods you can find at your local grocery stores fresh seafood counter. But stay away from the oily fish like mackrel and things like that since they will foul your water very fast.

Hermit crabs make good cleaners since the sharks can't get them. I have lots of zebra (AKA left handed hermits) in with my bamboos and they all do very well.

About the hermit crabs, my science teacher has a bamboo, occasionally he finds half a hermit crab in the tank haha

beautiful cat shark. just wondering, can you keep different species of cat shark together?

Thats weird. They are said to be fine with sharks. Mine do very well and are quite large. Are you sure he isn't finding the molted shells?

Well, davo - depends on the species involved.

Coral cats - can be kept with Marbled cats(A. macleayi), any species of bamboo(Brown-banded, Whitespotted, grey-banded, or Arabian), or eppies

They can't be kept with cold water species of catsharks like swell sharks. Most catsharks require water temps less than 65F(which is why they are rarely seen in the U.S. Market). Coral & Marbled catsharks are both tropical species and need water temps of at least 72F(prefer 75-84F).

By the way - fishofdoom - is the shark eating, yet?
