Got this new shovelnose at LFS the other day. Clerk said it was a TSN, but I know how the folks at that store are. Can't be trusted. So I come to you guys.

The pic is kinda sucky but it looks more like a lima to me.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks more like a lima.

Sorry about the pic quality... he's hiding in that back corner of the tank and won't come out.

EDIT: Also, how big will a lima get? I was hoping it was a TSN so I could put it in with my RTCxTSN eventually.

I think they only get to be between 12-18in. I could be wrong though, I've never owned one. Some one feel free to correct me if that's not right

You're right. 12-18 is whats said. I have one and I adore her. She eats like a pig, and does her headstands next to my RTC all the time, hardly ever leaves him. I got her at about 5 inches, and shes about 8 now, 3 months later, and much fatter. She did eat smaller fish that would pick on her, ie, my blue dolphin, my half retarded zebra, and my leaf fish. Once she was big enough to go her next tank, she bonded immediately with the RTC, and will not leave him, and also hasn't eaten anyone else, even the baby front.. Last night I watched her wriggle on her side, and slowly move from his tail up to his head. Freaky fish, giving him a lap dance maybe?? lol jk

I hope you enjoy yours, I really have. I am really eager to see how much size I can get on her.

(yes I know the pic sux)

Well that's good to know it might get along with my rtcxtsn. It hasn't eaten anything yet, but I've never had a cat that started eating right away so I'm not too worried.

Would still like to get a TSN, though. Maybe I'll just order one. My mother has been wanting to get some stuff from liveaquaria.com and they've got TSNs in stock, so maybe I'll just double up on an order with her.

I wouldn't be worried about the Lima eating the RTCxTSn, its the other way around.
