This thread might be a bit pointless... I'm probably just paranoid. I recently bought a pair of red isletas from Jeff rapps. The fish are super shy and darty and hide all the time. I don't know exactly how aggressive these guys are supposed to be but they were goetting their arses kicked by my Cuban pair so I removed the Cubans too a spare 10 gallon for the moment. I have read that they are just as personal as Midas so I am hoping they come around. They have spent about a day without the Cubans. The only tankmates at the moment are 5 silver dollars which are not helping the situation. Silver dollars=worst dither fish ever!

Now to my question. Is there anything I can do to help bring the isletas out of their shell? Will it just take time? I will be leaving for a couple of days so maybe that will help. Should I re-introduce the Cubans before I leave? The tank has been re-scaped to help the situation. I will post pics once they settle in they are still quite stressed. Oh and I got them Wed.

Well I already have silver dollars but they are darty fish anyway. So patience is the best thing? Thanks alot

X2 on waiting to add the cubans till you get back.how big are the istletas? are they F1? could they be wild caught?

Thanks I figured I was just being inpatient I will wait to bring the Cubans back. As for the isletas... The male is around 7" and the female around 5". They are f1.

how about some pics? My male is really interactive always begging for food. Here is a pic of mine he is about 9.5-10"

Absolutely stunning fish xinchavoc! They look pretty stressed right now so I will wait to post pics. I don't see many pics of them so it's good to see people with nice specimens.

I just got a pair from Rapps also! Its been a week they are fine male beat up the female so I divided them, and the male is swimming and moving gravel like crazy!

Cool how big are they? So you have any pics? They sound just like my old Midas pair which is good. Will be getting rid of the Cubans so the 125 will go to the isletas.
