New sight at pond?

My guess is it was a bowfin.

Yea could be bowfin for albino channel cat. Doesn't matter if he stocked them if the pond is big enough for birds to land they will bring eggs there. Last year I had had sunnies in my 10,000 gallon backyard pond. Best guess is that eggs hitched a ride on some ducks that used to hang out in the pond. Of course, it didn't really matter what was in the pond after sandy lol cuz it got filled in with saltwater.

Bowfin range from eastern Canada and US, south and west to Texas. They have many names, around here they are often called lawyer fish. They bite on just about anything, and have sharp teeth so be careful. I have seen them while snorkeling in small lakes at this time of year, and seem relatively fearless, not taking off until I get very close.
