The point is that here at MFK, when you enter the hobby, you should be prepared to provide the best environment for your fish, especially for monster fish as their needs are higher. If you can't, don't for whatever reasons, then monster fish is not for you =)
Well tank size will no longer be an issue for the arowana or any others. I'm keeping it in the 200 gallon, BUT me and a few friends are starting to work on some tank blueprints to build our own 1500 gallon tank/pond. We think it'll be around 10' long, 5' deep, and 4' tall. Mostly concrete with a glass front. We are going to work more on the design and it should be built by next year. That should work. I'll post the plans later on the DIY section
The silver and other fish who outgrow this tank will be moved to the huge tank/pond. And when the silver leaves the 200 gal I'll probably just get a small jardini to replace it. This should all work and maybe in the long run we'll have a four foot aro in a 1500 gallon pond
No no, the hiding spots would be for the red wolf, clown knife, senegal bichir and peacock eel. Although the peacock eel is definitely more of a burrower than anything.
I don't expect the arow to use the hide spot either, but I figure it would distribute their territories accordingly

I know that jardini is probably the more viable option, but I'm just not a big fan of how they look.
Good luck with your new arow and enjoy it, I'm looking forward to getting mine when the seller comes back to town
Rough-draft of 1500 gallon pond/aquarium blueprints are drawn out and we should begin building around October. If any fish outgrow my 200 before the pond is built they will be moved to my friends 700 gallon glass aquarium temporarily until the pond is complete. None of these fish should have any issues with not having enough space. The dementions of the pond will be 11'x5'x4' with a massive filtration system that is run off of mainly gravity and twin 2000gph pumps. If you have any questions or would like to see the sketched out blueprints then send me an email using the link below
not agressive. stress easy. like to be able to patrol top of tank with out blocking. steady warm temp. eat alot. i was buying 35 comets every 3 days and blood worms in between. 1" every 15-30 days. easily over 20" in 1 year.
hey, the aro will probs grow about an inch a month. it shouldnt be to agressive. ive seen them 16"s with 5" oscars and 4" firemouths. the color will most probably fade and the tsn catfish should be okay for awhile, they definitely be happier in a bigger tank. the bigger, the better. have fun
