yeah if its male looks fine to me too, maybe due a feed but thats it lol. nice setups you have there! do the snakes mind not having a hide or are they generally fine without it? great work you done there.

For the larger snakes they seem to not mind not having a hide so much. I had a plastic tub for my burm for a while, but he usually just sat on top of it eventually causing it to crack and break... so I took it out.

That might be more cost-effective than newspaper...in the future when I can no longer go over to my parents' house and get their old papers:)

Nice boa btw, and nice setup. Mind telling us how much it cost to build?

I think not including the lenolium and electical/wiring stuff it cost somewhere bettween $125-$150 total (with the plexi, the vent pieces, the rails, and the lumber.) I can't remember exactly how much lumber I used, so that's a rough estimate

Cool,i wish i had time to do that stuff anymore,im only 32 but the older you get the more goin on .Are you using heat tape or what?If you had a choice you would want your boa thiner than atter but he looks fine to me.I wish i had a set up like that for my tarantulas!

Well, it took alot longer to build than orriginally planned cause my BF pulled a major muscle in one of his arms and has been in a sling for almost a week now. Plus I have a FT job, so I could only work on it after work. I had the frame built 2 weeks ago it took 4 days of rushing it to get it done. I am using heat tape on all the enclosures, the bottom 2 are on seperate thermostats, with the top 3 on a manual adjustment thermostat.
As far as the boa. I think the weight he's at is fine. I think obesity is one of the #1 problems with big snakes. Another forum I visit someone in vet school had dissected a boa (or maybe it was a python) and while it didn't appear to be obese, the amount of fat built up inside the snake was disgusting.
Now my new challenge will be to switch the boa to frozen (he had been fed live his whole life)

It won't be easy to get him to switch but try and try.

Actually i have found most boids to be easy to switch to FRozen/thawed,. just warm up the prey and most boids i have dealt with have accepted the item when placed in the container.

Btw kittyhazelton- do u have the plans for that enclosure?? as im very interested in building one like that as my wife and i have decided to expand our snake collection .
