NEW SNAKEHEAD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wish america didnt ban them for no reason....

The lfs labelled the fish "sp fire and ice". I did some google and this fish turned up in a few places, with this name. And it's supposedly a gaucha variant.

Anyone knows how big will this fish grow? Understand it prefers cooler water, I keep it in my bedroom which is airconditioned and temp set at 21 deg.

Those fish really freak me out....a friend of mine had one and it would break the glass top on his 210 and then go into a near by closet and chill.....They are like aliens with them being able to live out of the water for days.....I also saw a video of a snakehead jump and eat a video camera when someone was trying to tape it.....scary

Nearly all this thread is wrong, misinformed and complete rubbish (sepecially the last bit about eating the camera. False)

To the OP,
The fish you have is a Channa sp. fire and ice (or ice fire or fire ice)
They are a dwarf species, so they will not grow big and I keep mine at sub tropical temps.

They are very aggressive towards their own kind as they grow.

I think they are more likely a variant of stewartii.

Hope that helps.

There is also a SH called "Channa sp. redfin" that is similar, but has less red around the cheek area. Here is a pic of one of mine:(sp.redfin)

But I can tell you, yours is 100% Channa sp. Fire&Ice.

they schould be from burma but they are no exprters who tell the real location they`re from.
