Ive recently been researching buying a new tank to upgrade from my glass 125 gallon. At first I considered a glass 180 gallon (6x2x2), but am leaning more towards an acrylic 240 (8x2x2) due to the added length and lighter weight. The planned stand will be 3 rows (left, right, and a center supporting row) of concrete cinder blocks with 4x4s laid across and plywood on top. My question is this: Truvu or seaclear for the tank? I can get either tank for roughly the same price, with only 2 dollars difference between the two. Any pros or cons to either manufacturers tank?

SeaClear made tanks for Sea World but their tanks are made in Mexico. Their distribution center is in SoCal. I have not heard anything bad about them except they are pricey. I personally prefer tanks made in US.

TruVu made some bad tanks 10yrs ago. The acrylic would yellow.

Brands are comparable.

The one comment I have is at least based on the website it looks like seaclear has 2 top holes and truvu has 4 smaller holes. I'd go with the two big ones personally

Anything about their quality in more recent years?

How do you think that would affect tank stability/structure?

Those are the only two options? Or are you looking at other manufacturers?

for now, those are basically my two options. if you know a couple more, do tell lol. I considered a 7x2x2 tank, but cant find any with those dimensions, and having one custom built locally would cost me almost $1800-$1900! So might as well go with the 8x2x2 for less money lol.

I like Advance Aqua which make Clear for Life. I have own several of their tanks and would recommend.
