I find bristlenoses butt ugly, call me a fishacist but I can not stare at an ugly fish in my tank lol My sailfin pleco is cute and pleasant on the eyes. I thought he was a common pleco but from pictures I've seen, he seems to be a sailfin, not sure what the difference is. Everyone recommends these bristlenoses but I just can't stand to look at them, they look nasty.

I don't have barreling pair of anything in my tank the everything in the tank is full grown except for the BGKF and the angels. I took the jacks in as charity from a friend so they may leave and the flowerhorn is gonna go now or get his own tank. My footprint is 72x16.5x24.

Your username is plecostic and you can't tell commonly seen plecos apart. Ok...

OP, you've gotten some good advice here.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend. As my mama always told me growing up, "One mans meat, is another mans poison". Sure they're not the best looking fish on the planet, but they keep my glass clean and don't create as much waste as the larger plecos do. They're also great conversation pieces when they're seen.

OP, with that footprint I'd really avoid a Flowerhorn as they can reach sizes of 14" (provided it's a long body and not a short body) and that could leave it severely cramped. Is the Jack Dempsey's male and female? If they are and they spawn they could do a number on your tank. The pair I had, in my 72"x18"x20" tank spawned and every other fish in the tank including a Jag were left pressed against the far right side glass of the tank, they maybe let them have a foot of swimming space some of the time. Just because nothing has spawned yet, doesn't mean it wont. If this stock list is working at it's current state I'd let it be. Just watch for spawning behavior and if you see it you could divide a couple feet of the tank off so they don't kill the other inhabitants and as soon as the fry are of decent size you could pull them and within a day or so pull the divider. The only change I'd suggest is the plecos, as mentioned them commons get HUGE and are poop factories. There is a LFS here with a pond that has a 2 footer.

I'm not sure what sex the JD's are but I'd say there the same, I know that they could pair up at any time but they've been together over six months basically by themselves in my buddies tank. I'm just hopin they don't pair off in my tank, what other species of plecostomas would be good for my tank, my lfs has an "red eyed albino"(not so sure what it is), yellow's, yellow bristlenose's, gold nuggets, and a starry night. Which of these would be the best?

I personally would pick the bristle nose, my albinos do a wonderful job cleaning my tanks. Some people think they're ugly, I think they look like something from a Dr. Suess book.

I stand by my Gold Nugget, it is nice to look at, and at only 4.5"s it does an awesome job in my 220... It eats the pellets on the ground and eats all the algae; he is also tough and can hang with my preds.

Does anyone know if starry nights are a smaller plecostomas. That's probably my favorite one, and are the any kind of scavenger cat that's pretty active that I could get that stays under six inches? I'll post some pictures later
