You need a lot more filtration. 2x Emperor 400 aren't even close. Those HOBs are highly overrated...don't believe the numbers on the box. I'd recommend adding 2 large canister filters.

You don't think that I would even be able to keep a fm synspillum for at least a little while tell it gets bigger besides size what would be the problem
As for filtration goes I trust it I've kept this same aquarium and filter using it in a marine reef and also a fowlr aquarium and it did what it was supposed to do I've had way more larger fish in this very aquarium before I decided to come back to fresh so idont think that filtration would be much of a problem I've had many large fish not just live but thrive in this very aquarium
Ya im down with that however you will get very little love here. Unless you are planning on keeping a single 4 inch fish in that 150 and running 2 fx5s to keep up with the bioload. Oh and of course you would need to upgrade in a year or so in case it reaches 4.5 inches... Lol not making fun of you op just alot of the attitudes I see on here lately. Take alot of what you hear on hear with a grain of salt. Apparently you have experience in the hobby if it sounds freaking ridiculous it is...
Not an amateur by no means no attitude just stating facts of what I have already experienced with this aquarium have been out of freshwater for a while as I've been doing salt and I have so many large tanks that I've decided to come back to monster That is all just looking for suggestions as grown folk do what they want anyways still

Seriously man, HOBs really don't do much in terms of biological filtration. Even a couple of 2217s would go a long way.
You can definitely do that stick. Most people just believe what they read online and have never applied it in person. Fish are extremely adaptable (within reason) and tank size is tank size regardless of length. Yes some fish need more length like a 6 ft for swimming but most central/South American cichlids aren’t swimming back and fourth all day like Africans. I have had success in all my cichlid tanks regardless of what the general sheep population thinks. I keep 5 adult Oscar’s in a 125 (6ft), and they thrive and all always swim together. And there is a 10in bala, 8in RTS, 10in common pleco, two 6in pictus catfish and some random 10in blue tilapia cichlid I rescued from a 40gallon tank. My tank cycles 12 times per hour and I water change about 20% every 3 days with a 40-50% change every 2 weeks. Also feed my Oscar’s quarter sized freeze dried shrimp. I’ll be moving the Oscar’s into a 4ft 150gallon with just the pleco. My other 150 tall (4ft length) houses a green terror, Texas, electric blue Jack Dempsey, salvini, electric blue acara, 2 convict, and a Firemouth, as well as a 10in common pleco. I already know somebody going to give me their two cents on this, but I don’t care I do my own thing and. And the second so I just mention, they are not fully grown and I don’t intend on keeping them all in there when they are fully grown obviously. But in my experience you need volume 125+ for most cichlid communities, but central and South America thrive in these taller tanks and Africans in longer. I have an overstocked 150 long for my African peacock cichlids….. HAPPY FISHING ?
