Maybe extinction was the wrong word choice. More like.... hunt every naturally occurring animal in the wild, figure out what we like, then breed them like mad to satisfy our urge for meat.
I suppose the solution would be to farm raise sharks and use all the body parts for something.
I understand the sentiments posted, but I still say this is a culture difference.
I remember going out on a deep sea fishing trip for Bluefin tuna when I was in Japan. The first tuna we caught had it's heart cut out and eaten by us fishermen. The carcass was thrown back into the sea as a gesture of honor and thanks to the ocean.
All in all, I'm not disagreeing.
