Are you going to keep all those fish in there? Your probabley going to have a problem if you are.

Unfortunately, I'm sure that some will have to be removed. I know the FH is a problem child. The others are fairly mellow individuals though. I plan on closely monitoring for the first few days and seeing how it goes. I'm hoping for the best and planning for the worst.

A very small percentage of the bacteria are in the gravel, even less (almost none) are in the water. As long as the filter was wet, it shouldn't cause any problem at all.

That's always been my understanding as well.

All of the filters' bio media is still there. I never even touched the filters. I just shut them off during the substrate change. There is a lot of bio media packed in my filters. Tested the water, small spikes in nitrite and nitrate, nothing I'm going to worry about, should clear up by tomorrow.

seems alot brighter now, looking good

Thanks, I like how it opened up the tank as well. I wanted to maximize the amount of space available for the rays.

looks good. small spike if any, but like said the filter should keep it good. I look forward to some pics of your motoros.

true but with the bio load with rays i would add some stability to the system for a few days after you add them... after every water change a capful or 2 cant hurt either

I did pick up some stuff similar to Stability. It's called Waste Control by Nutrafin. I'll probably pick up some Stability anyway. I've always had pretty good luck with the Seachem products.

if its what im thinking it is it makes all filter sludge break down and causes amonia spikes... i would just use seachems stability... works great and its safe

Ugh, looks like I'll be doing another water change tomorrow!

When you say it makes filter sludge break down, do you mean it breaks up the detritus that builds up inside the filter and spits it back out into the tank?
