hmm give me some idea's my first sump was kinda a disaster a friend gave it to me. so i am building my own think i got it covered i am trying to over filter my 300g tank this sump is 60 gallons. :headbang2

you need mechanical before the bioballs.

Why do you need a such a large chamber for the heater? Couldn't you just put it in the pump chamber? This would free up an entire chamber...

While you're at it, why not put bio media in the chamber along with the pump. Any space without media is ultimeately wasted space.

Keep in mind bioballs are best when used in a wet/dry application. The ceramic noodles are better for submerged applications.

hmm i see so if i move bio balls were heater is and heater were pump is then what should i fill with the empty slot?
Also should my sump be sealed from the top?

Mechanical filtration...

Nope...

Are the baffles (walls) in the sump already attached or are you puttin gthem in yourself?

If they are not in place as of yet, I would consider putting the first few closer together... this is where you will put your mechanical filtration. Start with a coarse sponge, then finer sponge, then finer, ending with polyfill or quilt batting... if desired you can add micron rated fabric after that...

Consider adding plants to your sump to create a refugium. If you choose to do so they would be best placed after the mechanical filtration...

Lastly is the bio media. If you are able to have a drip tray trickle water over the media but the media not be fully submerged, use bio balls. If the bio media is going to be submerged then use ceramic noodles. In the design you have below, the bioballs will be submerged thus using ceramic noodles would work better.

Squeeze the heater in anywhere it'll fit.
