New sump...what pump?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
here's a shot of the box...

will the length of the pipe inside the box affect the amount of the flow?

notice in one of the pics the water level inside the box...that's how tall the pipe is that's inside.

The length of pipe is ok, but you might want to search for Durso stand pipes, it'll make it quieter.

Also, it doesn't look like you're flowing much at all, so you shouldn't need to choke the pump down. In fact, you might want to consider adding one. It'll give you more flow and also act as a safety net in case one pump fails.

rallysman, you're right, there wasn't much flow and that's why i was disppointed when i was advised to use a ball valve to decrease the flow back into the tank...because there' wasn't even much pressure comin out of the return hose to begin with.

but here's the good news! :D we added some more water and here it is now :)

Thanks for all the help everyone! :headbang2

tell me about it :)...thank god for MFK and it's members who are always ready to help. saves me a drive to my LFS...( although my gf and i still go to the LFS for no reason LOL ) but we did get some nutriBac today for the bioballs.

im so happy to see the increased pressure out of my pump now...strong current...more water movement in my tank now (good or bad for the fish?)...one of the yellow labs goes in front of the tube and swims against the current like it's on a treadmill.
