New sump

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i just got a price quote on having glass cut for my 55g sump and i am official discouraged.... 36 dollars for one 12x18 piece 1/4 thick

That's why I used acrylic for everything, try and find a plastic shop like Tap plastic, but they aren't on the east coast. Should be like 25.00 for that

any issue with water not making it to the filter sock? it doesnt seem like you have a strong seal between the filter socks and glass they sit on.. i was wondering how much water is getting under the plastic ring and not into the sock. any issues with the sock possibly lifting off the glass it sits on?

i wanted to do the same thing with 3 corse, dropping down to 3 fine, finally trickleing over a wet dry with 8-10 gallons of bioballs

The holes for the filter socks are a snug fit for the rings. The rings are clicked into place because the holes are accurately cut with a laser, I would not be so confident about a snug fit if I had used a hole saw as originally planned. It still isn't active yet, had trouble cutting the lid, but it is no different to any other sump using socks.
