i was worried about loosing the heat from having the filtration outside, so i insulated the shed to death and as it turns out the pump gives of quite a bit of heat so when you open the doors to the shed you can feel the heat inside. Also the pipes inside the house ive used expanding foam on them so there is as little heat loss as possible. Christmas will be the real test when the tamp starts hitting -5 C.

Absolutely stunning tank kev, you've just given me an idea for my big tank build eg,your outside filtration.
How many or what kind of heaters are you using?

Steve

That is a quality tank - i see exactly why you kept it down low and it works brilliantly.

Shame there will be no cichla but the lince is a pretty special fish - get it fully stocked and get us some photos :D

 looks stunning, like the surround and hood in that finish aswell. would love to see some cichla in there tho

thanks all it was a long time planning this tank and getting the funds for it.

for heaters im using 3x 300w heaters to start with, the test will be this winter. as i said the pump gives off quite a bit of heat so hopefully i can contain that heat in the shed. having the filtration outside ment i could make the tank even bigger.

Nice!

Very nicely done project to the OP. What are you doing for lighting?
