New tank/ cloudy water help :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no fish waste, no beneficial bacteria, that's how it works plus u need carbon to absorb the unwanted minerals in the tap water before placing any fish. don't listen to people that tells you not to feed the fish until water clears up, all ways feed your fish daily to produce bacteria as much filter will absorb, THE BEST FILTER IS AQUA CLEAR. Stores lots of healthy bacteria to fight off ammonia and nitrite.

u know absolutely nothing about fish and a HEART to care for them so hush and learn, fish must be fed everyday, 4times a day would be suitable for big fish, small fish 2 or 3 times a day would be suitable. Water change 3 times a week for heavily stocked aquarium or less for partial change.

If I did this my fish would be dead from over-feeding... and rotted food in their tanks. I agree 20-30% a day for a week. feed 1x a day or every other day. the only exception to this would be LARGE species at juvinile stages. or small very active fish, such as neon or cardinal tetras.

What filter is running on the tank? I have an inkling it may be to small. or inappropriate. where the fish added all at once? or gradually? and how was the tank cycled? I agree it is likely a bacterial bloom.

I would cut-back on the feeding abit, make sure everything is consumed. but I agree completely cutting back on feedings compleatly may not be beneficial.

Biggest mistake people make w/ a new tank... They overclean it.. :WHOA:

Cut back on feeding and get on with daily 50% water changes until you have the filter cycled and coping with fish waste production again. You might want to get a test kit too. This will help you check on your water parameters.

Cutting back on feeding will reduce the waste produced by the fish during the time your filter is catching up again.

You can then gradually bring them back up to a normal feeding pattern after a few weeks I expect.

hey man i just wanted to see if any of this information is helping out your problem. i know people are writing on here that you have to feed your fish 3 or 4 times a day. honestly dude your fish arent gonna suffer or hurt if you feed them every other day unless like he said they are large juveniles or very active (high metabolisms). but in the end no matter how much info we all give you its your fish tank. the funnest part i have had with my fish tanks is being stuborn as hell and learning on my own. yes i listened to some parts but you need to find what works for you. alright man just post on how its doing im just curious.

the tank is doing great water cleared up with the water changes and less feeding i would say it cleared up within like 5 days maybe at 30% changes and one feeding a day with just a pinch of food flakes.

thank you to everybody that contributed to this post :)
