Ok guys i'm gonna turn a 110 into a chiclid tank i already have sand and some rock caves in place and the tank is cycled
So heres the questions.
1.I would like alot of colored fish
2.Not so aggressive
3.Would eventually give some fry
4.Not too expensive lol
Thanks

Peacock aren't expensive, and will breed for you and can be quite colorful.
thats what i've been looking at does it matter the number of male/ female i guess if i buy them small i wont know
anyway .How many should i start out with ? Thanks

Start with about 15 or so...just go to your lfs and pick out a bunch and see which aren't compatible and trade them back in for others...thats what I would do

Yellow labs are pretty easy to breed and get along pretty good with others

I would not suggest peacocks if you want alot of color and fry unless you dont care if they are hybrids. The majority of female peacocks look almost the same a drab brown color. If you get more than one type of peacock chances are high you will not be able to tell he females apart and neither will the male peacock .

but an all male peacock tank is the most colorful...........I do not keep my girls with the boys as they are drab colored.....I only put them together when I want more.
Plus......The peacocks are not aggressive...At least not in my tanks....

peacocks are aggressive when they spawn.. actually in general peacocks are aggresssive.. all africans in my opinion are somewhat aggressive... if you want a lot of color your best bet is an all male peacock and hap tank.. you will not get babies from this thou.. if you are set on breeding then you should look at pics and figure out what peacock you like the best and get a group of juvies or adults its alot cheaper to grow out juvies but takes more time.. ive personaly found that the ratio that works best for me is 3 males 6 females.. everything breeds like crazy with that ratio and the extra males spread the aggression out so the females dont get it all.. thats jus my opinion thou

I do agree...that you can't tell the females apart....However....I have the luxury of having smaller tanks and my Girls are kept there...If I want more of a particulular color.............I can just add my daddy. It is true they will interbreed so to keep it true......takes work, but I love my Peacocks for their color and I do not sell fish so if I happen to get a cross....It doesn't matter.
