New tank lids = No more jumping out, (hopefully)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How did you make the cuts for the filters? Machine or are they hand cut? I am making some lids right now but I don't have enough experience to do cut-outs by hand.

of cause, if you had lids with 2 inch gap from the HOBs, there is another way of stopping fish from doing the jump....

get bigger fish. . . That's true MFK styles. =)

all in all though, fantastic job on that glass, Looks freaking great, so neat!!!

Most of us have had fish jump out through little gaps in the covers. I've had aros jump through the covers as well, but that is a different problem. Great lids!

That looks great! I just went to a Glass Shop today to get new pieces cut. Unfortunately they didnt have 3/16 in stock. He said they dont use much of it.

I'm quite jealous of your though!

We have a saw, with a smooth blade that was covered around the edges with carbide chunks. Very little chunks. It is almost like the glass is filed, instead of actually being cut.

I don't personally have one, since the blade is over $300.00.:WHOA:

It's real glass, I don't have any plexi-glass at work. It is 3/16 "smoke" plate. I had to use that thickness in order to use my current plastic lid hinges. If you can draw a picture of the top of your tank, with the dimensions, around your filters, a local shop should be able to cut some new lids for you, pretty cheap.

The "smoke" took all of the glare out of my tank, too. Bonus!!:naughty:

GLASS , even better great job:D
