new tank my ideas please help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would tell you that sounds fine but other people would probably disagree. I would suggest starting with a silver arowana juvenile (about 5") but not a baby (3" yolk sack still attached) seeing as they are very dificult to keep alive at that age. As far as a ray, I would suggest a hysterix or humerosa ray. They do not grow quite as large as other fresh water rays and grow much slower.

ok sounds good whats a good website for rays and aros??? cuz my store onloy has the 2 rays i mentioned and a few 10in aros?

a 10 in aro is pushing to big for a 55 already IMO it wont last more than a couple months in there

Tea Cup Ray.... Still need an upgrade.

what do guys think of puffers im loking into them recently they look pretty cool anyone have any input tankmates???

HELP ! Sorry if i sound off but 55 is no good for any sort of ray . It would get streesed in no time u run the risk of having ammonia spikes with the waste they produce. wheres miles he will help

THIS IS A GOOD WEBSITE FOR AROWANA AND RAYs

if you think you are going to upgrade to a 200gal+ tank in less than 1yr go for the ray and arowana if not forget both and look at other fish

as for tank mates forget the puffer they rip lumps out of rays

i dont mean to sound harsh but from your posts it doesnt sound like you know what fish you want to keep just now

a 55gal tank is a good size but just not for some of the fish you mentioned Arowana, rays large cats

yea im starting to realize that as well but have been getting interested in puffers would be able to keep a semi larger puffer no rays or arowanas?

Puffers are not my thing so i dont know to much about them

if you ask in the puffer section you should get some good help their ask to what type to keep

rays and puffers just dont mix that well the smaller puffers the rays will eat and the larger puffers bite rays

i would love to keep a MBU with my rays but its to much of a risk

good luck finding the right fish for you
