New tank. Need help/recommendations

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My bad I forgot to say welcome to mfk!!

I would make a amazon tank out of it do some Cichla, a smaller cat some plants and driftwood, if you are wanna try something cool you could try a mata mata in it to.

look at all the photos you can find. Here under tank of the month. Look at them all. Google photo 300 gal tank fish. Jardini / arrowana would not go well with mean fish. But you could put a dat in with it and some bass.
I like flowerhorns but ya cant put much in with them. Pleco's some clowns if you raise them with them together.
I use crushed coral because my tap water has a high Ph I think it looks good and it keeps the Ph up, So when I do water changes I don't have deathly Ph swings

I would stock it like this x1 pbass x1 arrowana x1 tiger datnoid x1 pleco or option two x3 red tail barracudas x3 yellow tail barracudas x2 red tail payara x1 African pike x1 fancy pleco. I myself would definitely go with option #2 with a beautiful sand layout with some driftwood also live plants and a kick *** filtration setup.
I really like the sound of that second option! You don't think that would be overstocked at all though do you?

And would all of those fish get along together? And could I possibly put an Arowana in there and not have it be eaten? Like maybe substitute an arowana or two for the redtail barracudas?

I wouldn't put more then one arrowana in a 300. And arrowana would end up eating the cudas. The second option I gave to should work out great giving that all specimens are roughly the same size. Oh BTW option 2 would be a wonderfull combo. YouTube the cudas and payara if you've never seen them feed before.

So one arowana would eat the Yellow tail barracudas you think? If I got them the same size...would the arowana grow faster? or what?

Arrowana would out grow everyone in a flash not to mention the arrowana would take a lot of apace up leaving very little room for other fish.

Here's my setup hopefully it'll help shape some ideas. What I recommend is checking the tank of the mouth forum.
