I Would like to set up a nice small acuascaped tank. But I have never done anything with plants before. I would like to do a few small fish but that's it i can get up to a 30 gallon I have an amazing piece of driftwood soaking right now I want to make that the center of the tank. I don't want to spend to much so I know this is a a lot to ask but can u guys make some suggestions on tank size 10-30 filtration light fish plants planting media any thing else I will need? I think 30 is a good size, for filtration marinland bio wheels are always my first choice, lighting get a good t5 lighting system with about 45+ watts good luck

When it comes to planted tanks I liked the 20 gallon best. Long one if you can get it. A school of tiger bards would be fun and some cory cats. Easy stuff so you can spend your time worring about getting the plants right. Once you figure out what plants work for you then maybe decide on some harder to keep fish.

Another thing is patience and planning... Choose plants carefully based on what they need and how tall or wide they grow...

And dont try and pack your tank full of plants right at the start if they are all young plants...

Just noticed that no one actually seems to have suggested any plants...

My suggestion if you want to go really low tech, and not have to hassle too much with worrying about lighting etc, i would start off with some of the Anubias plants... there are a few species of them, very slow growing (in my experience), very hardy and is a good low light beginner plant which would take a lot to kill...

Other than that, i guess you could maybe look into some of the sword plants which i've heard are pretty easy to grow? also a lot of the more common mosses are pretty easy to get growing as well, but do becareful picking mosses, as some do require Co2 injection for best results...
