New tank Opinions please!!

Honestly you can get away with T8 bulbs. I'm using Flora-Sun bulbs 15 watts in my 55 gallon heavily planted tank. My plants are flourishing, I have a couple Swords, Dwarf Aquarium lily and some Ferns and few others I can't remember. I use my local fish stores plant food and fertilizers and liquid C02. A Marineland 150-170 would work for you in 30 gallon.

Here's what I have to give you some ideas...
I have a 7g and a 20g Long as my Planted Tanks. The 20g is more of a low-tech tank with some Wisteria, Argentinian Swords, Amazon Swords, Anacharis, Java Fern, Moss, Balls, and Anubias. They are all easy plants, Wisteria and Anacharis grows quite quickly. The 7g has Dwarf Baby Tears, Micro Swords, and Anubias N. Petite. In the 20g I have Glolight Danios, Dwarf Puffers, Otocinclus, and a L/F BN Pleco. The 7g has White Cloud Minnows, Cherry Shrimps, and Amano Shrimps.
 
Forgot to mention...I use Eco-Complete in the 20g and Aquasoil Amazonia in the 7g.
