so in todays paper someone is sellign a 200 gallon tank for $150 and well i went to look at it and took some measurements. it is 7'L x 2'T x 2'D and with the stand is it 4'T. but my concern is that it is empty right now and i dont know how long it has been empty for. she told me not to long but she could be lien to me about it holding water. the water line looks like it was 4"-6" from the top and she told me that it was there only for a little due to they were not doing water changes and stuff. also she said the filter leak and thats what caused the calcium build up on the bottom of the stand, but they dont want to sell the filters (sounds fishy). so i guess my main question is, is it worth it and well how much do you think i could sell it for if it didnt work in my house? thanks

Buy it.
Put it out in the garage, or outside and fill it all the way up to the top with water, wait 24 hours.
If it leaks, reseal it.

I'm going to go with the re-sealing advice. But it sounds like you've got enough concern that it'll be extra-work so negotiate the seller to a lower price (good price though, but I'll bet you can get to $120)

that kinda what i was thinking but i have never resealed a tank and it seems like if i did it wrong i would come hiome toa mess. so if i need to reseal it, is it easy and what is a good kind of sealant to you use.

if shes keeping the filters it sound like they upgraded or but a new tank becuase the current one had problems. still at that price its a good deal even if all u have to do is seal it.
