New Tank Questions - Severums

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those results show that you have a GH of 6.72 AND A kh OF 4.48.
The low KH will be the cause of the ph shift, this might be due to an increased level of amonia for a very short period of time. If it were me i'd leave them as they are at the moment and just keep an eye on the PH.
Also the introduction of air and Co2 will make the ph change a little so if you keep the KH as it is just make sure you do routine checks on it.
Alot of people that use Co2 for plants will have a KH in your area so that the amount of Co2 requiried isn't through the roof. The KH is your waters natural buffer, so you can leave it be or get some freshwater RO additives to bring it upto about 6ish which is a much stabler level. However is you use the RO additives you will need to check the KH of any water added to the tank during water changes so you don't suddenly shift the KH out of the roof...

I would honestly leave it as it is and just make sure you don't let the water parameters get out of hand. Do this by doing the usual water changes that you do at the moment. For instance i have the fish in my sig in a 120ukg tank and i still do 50% every three days just to be sure the water is in top condition, also the sevs can suffer from LLE and HITH due to poor water. So the big water changes are always a good idea anyway.
And just remember if you use a hose to refill the tank after changing the water you will need to dose the whole tank with water conditioner whilst the water is going in and not just dosing for the volume of water replaced.

Good luck mate :)

Ps: Sevs rock so keep tham happy and they'll keep you happy...
