Hey Guys! It's been quite a while since I've been on MFK and I've gotta say I've missed it. After going through quite the reptile fascination for the past couple years, I've decided I really miss having fish! I have gotten rid of most of my snakes to friends in various states(It is now illegal to own most reptiles in DE) but I still have my geckos.

Anyway, because I'm ranting. I set up a tank tonight, nothing big simply a 75 gallon. I need all of your help because I don't know what to stock it with. This tank will be cycling for the next week or two so I do have time to decide.

I am looking for a show tank, doesn't have to be multiple fish and doesn't have to be a single specimen either. I would prefer to have fish that can live their lives out fully in a 75 gallon also. I just want all of your opinions! What's hot in the hobby right now?

P.S. I have kept many MONSTER fish before i.e. Arapaima, Arowana, freshwater rays, manyyy cichlid's, pbass and the such.

I do have the tanks to go bigger but I want to stick with this one for now, so I'd love for some feed back.

Thanks Guys, Doug:)

Africans are a thought, never had any except frontosa's.

I actually was heavily thinking about another wolf but they've been very hard to find around here. I think plants would be hard with either of those fish though, every wolf I've had has like'd to burrow immensely. Also, I've never done live plants in a tank before.

Well other then africans, what are your ideas.

I just have never kept african's because they have never interested me. I always felt like if I had to do that much work to upkeep for water specifications I would go to saltwater and I've never wanted to do either.

I do appreciate all of you're feedback though.

What did you like? and why? If you've never had a planted system before there is certaintly alot you can do with them.

Unless you want to keep some of the rare of the rare in africans.. imo you can't get much easier then an african tank ( provided you have the proper filtration ect for it.)

Whats your deffinition of a show tank? clean up any tank, and stock it with fish can be a show tank.

I guess that's the hard question I haven't been able to answer. I liked keeping all my big fish I just do not have the time to have 300 gallon ponds running again right now.

I guess IMO a show tank is a visually capturing tank. One that will have you watching and wondering for hours. I think my last "show tank" was my indoor ray pond, but as said I cannot do that kind of tank right now.

I always found if you look to the MFK community you can and will find the answers you are looking for.

Look my best looking show tank. Was a planted discus tank it was a 180. And i kno being for lower De its not easy to find all the monster fish that they have on this site. But i did pull it off with a black 14" aro and like 6-8 wild caught disc. That ended up being around 4-5" round. But i gave up my first born for the fish, lol, never do that again

Going Africans certaintly shouldn't be to challengeing. Otherwise a pair of sa/ca cichlids would also fit the bill. Not a huge cichlid fan myself other then my pikes. maybe go brackish and get a G tile eel? maybe do some smaller Bichirs?

personally my fire eels steal the show the second would be my bichir. My neice loves visiting so she can feed the eels. and even my non-fishy frineds eyes bug out when 3 happy fish come to the tank front to beg for worms. and My bichir are just clowns to watch.
