Hey people,

Finally back home and can see my fish again. Its quite a monster now. i'll post pics soon. BUT i wanna redo my fish tank but have a couple of questions. I've noticeed that some people have quite a bar setup for their tank. Whereas others have loads of hiding places.

THis is what my current set up looks like

but i was thining that maybe i should just have the tank bare and have like one plant in the middle for hiding.

Any suggestions? Keep in mind that my SH is very skittish. He's about 7 inches now. The reason i wanna change is so that my snakehead doesn't hide all the time and hopefully it'll grow some balls and come out sometimes.

I have gone the other way and have gone from a fairly bare setup to a planted tank for my dwarf SH's. It looks so much better and has made the fish feel more at home, It has really brought out there colour. Bit harder to maintain with cleaning round the plants though.

I agree, and sorry for all of you out there with bare bottom tanks, but a nice natural setup is always a plus for any fish imo. Don't need to overdo it, just enough :)

Thanks for all the replies, I basically wanna see my fricken SH more. All he does is hide. Today i fed him some frozen bloodworms and he as just about to come out, until he saw me. i was hiding behind something ith my hood up in a dark room. He started coming out REALLY slowly then looked at me then dashed back in really quick...

I'm thinking of redoing my tank to have all the planted material in the middle and take out the cave thats coming out from the slope of the gravel.

Another question is, i saw a little worm in my tank. and it kinda looked like a sperm. But its headed was more pointed. ANyone have any idea what it is?

Have you tried adding some sm. size schooling fish to the tank??... (danios? neon tetras? of like?)... 'target fish'... perhaps that might bring out your SH a little bit more??

Thanks for the replies,

I think i need to redo my tank because well my SH is getting too big for his cave. I'll have a full update of the tank soon with pics as well..

I just bought my SH a HUGE bag of live shrimp about 50 of them, and a smallish bag of some feeder fish. don't really kno what they are. maybe some type of minnow. Does that count as schooling fish?
Anyays I might get some tetras or some gupies as some really expensive feeder fish. I'm still freaking annoyed that my SH is still shy as **** and won't eat if he can see me. I'm gonna cut dowwn the no. of places it can hide. Stupid shy fish, but he's a BEAST
