Well I set up a bigger saltwater tank and was finally able to get pics..

Its a 65g with a fuval 205, ac70, and a bak-pak2 skimmer. Double strip 54w lights with 2 actinic bulbs and 2 10000k bulbs.
8lbs of live rock so far, when I get paid Ill get more, 70lbs of live sand.
And a lionfish that someone gave me. If they didnt have to get rid of him I wouldnt have taken him since the tank was barely cycled.
Its been set up for about two weeks now. Hes doing great

I rescued him from a 29g so I figured this upgrade would suit him well for a while, But I know a upgrade will be needed.

What do you think I should stock the tank with once I get all my liverock and find the lion a bigger home.

so after the lion is gone?

im quite partial to fire fish, jawfish, and chalk bass myself, but really any fish under 4 inches could work depending if you wanted a reef or not

a small eel (would be moved with the lion), tobacco bass and a fathead (sunburst) anthias i think would make for a nice display

Chalk bass are very nice but can have sporatic behavior. But with that tankit could be a very nice reef tank with a bunch of 5 inch fish.

I shouldve said this before I asked. I want bigger aggressive fish for this 65g because I already have 2 15g nano reefs. I like the reefs alot, but I want to do something else with this other tank. I was thinking for the time being I could maybe put a picasso trigger with the lion, maybe niger, maybe some type of angels, or butterflys...And a snowflake moray. Of corse I know all of these will need bigger tanks and will have a bigger tank, Around tax time I plan on spending all my cash on either a 125 or 150 for saltwater.

if it
s just untilll april you could get rather small specimens of some of these.. but of course they have to be big enough to not get eaten by the lion so stick to just 1-2 more in this tank..

I think a Copper Band or banner fish would be fine (heniochus acuminatus) for the butterfly area. Of course the two of them would need at least the 125 down the road to accommodate for there active life styles.

most kind of larger wrasses will suite that tank well for now, but again definitely will need the larger setup in April for active life styles.

Id avoid any large anthias until you have the 125 and its been setup for several months. These fish are very sensitive to many changes and are also hard to feed. Once the tank is setup theres a better probability of getting the fish to feed and stay feeding.

Eels as BigG said would be fine, but i would aboid many smaller wrasses and anthias and other fish of the likes.

I heard that snowflakes only need a 55 and a harliquin tusk fish might be good.

the tusk would work.. maybe get him around jan-feb.. as sweetang said wrasses are fairly active fish.. also i haven't really seen much by way of small tusks.. most of the ones i've found already have their adult markings

if you've ever seen a fully grown snowflake you'd think twice about putting one in a 55 for life..

you can get a smaller one and move him over.. but a 55 is sub-ideal long term
