new tank setup need ideas for fishes

Glad you asked that question about keeping what you catch fishing. Keeping a shark under 36" in illegal in the US without permits. And catching and keeping alive also requires a permit.

As for your tank, I'd go with cat sharks (coral cats are a personal favorite for me). They will be a little more active for you when compared to most bamboo sharks. The info about bonnets and sharpnose is correct. They need a LOT of space.

ok so lets say i dont go with any sharks, what would be a nice colorful campaible assortment of fishes? like tangs triggers puffers etc and what sizes?

I like large groups of smaller fish. Brings much more activity to the tank. But that is just me.
Big angels or tangs would add a lot of color and size. That would also be plenty of room for a small saltwater stingray if you wanted to try something like that.

chevyman. just pm'd you. have some nice xmas island gold puffers and a 13-14 inch vlamingi tang that would look nice in your aquarium. i am in tampa so you can come check them out. later

big tangs are nice as would a number of different wrasses, a big porc puffer for character, some larger angels (blue rings are nice and easy) harlequin tuskfish, many different groupers, schooling bannerfish, lionfish, look downs maybe, and fill her in with like 200 differnt damsels and chromis (aka feeders :D)
